Medical Grade Chemical Peels

Available in various strengths, medical-grade chemical peels are more powerful than over-the-counter (OTC) products or facials offered in spas.   Chemical peels are classified as light or superficial, medium or deep, and may include a single product, such as glycolic or salicylic, or a combination of solutions.   A thorough evaluation by our aesthetician is completed to determine the best treatment for each patient’s skin type.

During the procedure, the product is applied to the affected area (generally the entire face), and applied agents then work to separate and peel the outer layers of the skin, which generally contain dead skin.  When the product is being applied, the patient may experience a temporary cool, warm or hot sensation.

This process stimulates the generation of new skin cells following the peel, leaving softer, healthier looking skin.  The number of treatments varies by individual. Downtime is often minimal, and no interruption in social or work activities is necessary.

Chemical peels can be used alone or in combination with other products and services, like dermaplaning, to treat:

  • Acne
  • Dark spots
  • Dehydrated, aging, or environmentally-damaged skin
  • Large pores
  • Rough skin texture
  • Wrinkles and surface lines

The number and type of treatments varies among individuals.  Downtime is often minimal, so there is no interruption in social or work activities.

At Valley of the Sun Dermatology, our certified aesthetician offers a variety of peels to meet the individual needs of patients. A thorough evaluation is made by our aesthetician to determine the best treatment for your skin type.
